Dr Graham Wild, BScHons, GradCert, MScTech, PhD, MSPIE, MIEEE, MRAeS, MAAUS

Dr Wild has been a Senior Lecturer in Aviation Technology in the School of Engineering and Information Technology at The University of New South Wales Canberra (at The Australian Defence Force Academy), since 2020. Prior to that, he was a Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering and Aviation in the School of Engineering at RMIT University, commencing there in 2012. From 2011 to 2012 he was a Lecturer in Aviation Systems at ECU. In 2010 he was a post-doctorial research with the Photonics Research Laboratory at ECU, continuing the work from his PhD at ECU on Optical Fibre Based Structural Health Monitoring Systems of Aerospace Vehicles. Prior to commencing high education, he studied to be a commercial pilot, completing his CPL theory. Dr Wild has been a research with the CSIRO Electric Machines Group, the CSIRO Intelligent Systems Group, the US Naval Research Laboratory, and most recently with the Laboratory for Active Materials and Smart Structures at the University of South Carolina.

Dr Wild's research and teaching has focused on “contemporary issues” and “future technology” in aerospace and aviation since 2012. His research activities have be diverse, covering topics on advanced aerospace/aviation technologies such as box wing aircraft, hybrid propulsion systems, unmanned aircraft, space tourism, spaceports, and my other areas. Continuously consuming educational material and documentaries, Dr Wild has a broad range of knowledge across aerospace, aviation, machine learning/artificial intelligence, environmental sustainability, safety, analytics, research methodologies, and education; along with many others areas of general science and technology.

Teaching

Dr Wild commence as a laboratory tutor in 2005 for many UG Physics classes (Introduction to Physics, Physics of Motion, Waves and Electricity, Modern Physics, Electronics in the Physical Sciences, Intermediate Physics, Advanced Physics, Electronic Devices, Physics of Microsensors), as well as for a few electrical and electronic engineering classes (Experimental Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering 1A, Instrumentation and Measurements). He has also tutored UG mathematics classes (Differential Equations, Statistical Research Methods). During his PhD he was given the chance to lecture modern physics (quantum mechanics and nuclear and particle physics), where a student teacher and course satisfaction of 100% and 95%, respectively, cemented his future as a lecturer. He has also lectured in Waves and Electricity, Aircraft Propulsion 2, Aircraft Systems, Advanced Aerodynamics, Aviation Meteorology, Introduction to Aircraft, Managing the Engineering Environment, and Aviation Research Methods (Aviation Industry Project).
